Our professional research focuses on quantitative and spatial analysis.

Quantitative research includes community assessments, program evaluation and technical grant writing. We specialize in utilizing federal data sets such as the Census of Population and Housing, Public Use Microsample Data and Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data. Our staff is well versed in federal grant applications and providing the type of data commonly used in federal and state reporting. We also assist agencies with research design and implementation, including data collection.

In terms of spatial analysis, our staff are expert GIS users. We have extensive experience with ArcGIS (3.2, 9.0 and 9.1), MapInfo and Maptitude (HUD20/20).In both quantitative and spatial research, we have worked in the fields of demography, housing, transportation, health, economic development and race/ethnicity.

GIS Training

We have developed the Planners' ToolBox® Series which focuses on developing practical, current skills for anyone interested in social research and urban planning. Our workshops are hands-on, fast paced and meant to develop concrete skills. Each workshop is customized for the city in which it is taught, allowing participants to gain real experience with data from their local communities.
